I'm thinking of buying a hard drive from sybaritic online, but I'm concerned about the delivery of such a sensitive device ;)
Is it maybe safer to buy hard drives from the store? Any experiences?

The drives are shipped from singapore dude.
Another 30 or so km's is hardly going to make a difference.
I have had no problems with sybaritic, but I must admit to not having purchased a hard drive online ever.

Bought a seagate drive from Buycomputers.co.za recently and had it shipped to me in the Northern Cape via Speedservices. No problems at all.

The service at Buycomputers.co.za were great, drive was shipped within 24 hours of placing the order.

drives are usually somewhat packaged in bubble wrap, so I do not see a problem with shipping them. Besides that their heads are locked when non-operational. So if price and service is right, I would have no issue buying a hard drive online.

i bought 2x250gb hard drives from computers-only a few months ago...

never had any problems with the drives, they came well packaged in a box and with lots of bubble wrap...
