I have 2 accounts with Telkomsa.net and another 2 with another provider. I havent been able to go online for 2 weeks due to reported cable theft in my area.
I have been promised to be called back on numerous occiassion as to when the cable will be replaced as Telkom has no stock, which just simply doesnt happen.
I am now expected to pay for a service that I can't utilise and costing me money. This is unacceptable, I should at least be notified as to when I can expect to be back on-line.
Worst part is I had to call on my cell and hold 45 minutes each time and have to pay for that call too! The level of service is disgusting and if there was another fixed line service provider, I would move over.
I am seriously thinking of moving my business over to wireless and cancelling with Telkom, at least thier level of service will be a bit higher.

If there was cable theft in my area, then fine, replace it, you cant tell me they dont have stock, and if they really dont, why not?? This is something that happens frequently and they should have stock with the millions they rob from us every month.

I really feel sorry for a business who has to go through this and is dependent on being on-line, they can lose everything because Telkom doesnt take thier finger from where ever it's not supposed to be and have it placed on the pulse.

Okay, we had a cable break last week, my service was down from Monday till Friday, some tips:

*Forget the Cellphone, don't phone Telkom from your Cellphone, it takes forever and costs a lot. Go to a public Telkom card phone and phone the ADSL support number 0800 375 375.
*Report the fault and ask them to Log it.
*Drive around in your town until you see the place where all the Telkom bakkies are. Not at a telkom shop. This is the technical services department.
*Go in at this department, ask to speak to the guy who is in charge of the setup.

Tell him your story, give him your telephone number and ask him to check it on his system. You have to be sure the fault you reported was logged, you should receive an sms on your phone or something.

If he see's the logged fault, he can ask one of his technicians to come out to your premises, but only if the fault is logged and he sees it.

Be curtious, but stern and friendly.

That's what I did and someone came out and within 1 hour I was on and connected ;)

You are not expected to pay for a service that is not being provided.
Both telkom and teklom ISP will refund you. Telkom ISP will only refund you for a complete month's loss.

If you're using another ISP .. well, they probably will not.

Dial 10210 to request the refund for the telephone service and the ADSL parts of the service, and 0800 DSL DSL for the refund on telkom internet (once a whole month's usage has been squandered).

Atleast you can claim all service fees back when they do charge you. But also keep inmind that it will take forever to get paid back to you!!!

Telkom is so useless that they can't even see on their system that you didn't have connectivity because of their incompetence and automatically credit you...

Thats the funny part, logged the fault 2 weeks ago!!!! When I call them the usual answer is that it hasnt been assigned and they will esculate to their supervisor or, eish, the cable has been stolen and we havent got stock..... Such BS!!

Thanks for the info guys I will definetly ask for the refund too!
