Calling all Boffins! Virus/Spyware Removal...

Guys I need yo ppls help...my pc is rid with Spyware...

Whenever the pc is switched on, I get an icon on the system tray such as a yellow triangle or the ms shield, it says my pc is infected with spyware...

Ran AdwareSE, Spybot(latest def), MS Antispyware(latest def) but they cant find any spyware. Even in safemode.

There is a program called "spyaxe" but cant seem to uninstall it...

even changing the "MSCONFIG" entries dont help...

now i give up and on the virge of reinstall-but dont wanna do that...

pls help!
 
Get a firewall so it can stop reporting back and downloading even more spyware. THEN try to remove it.
 
Hijack this

There's a whole community out there willing to give free assistance within seconds. You need to download a tiny programme called Hijack this. Run it and then post the result on any of the countless forums on the net, witin a few minutes someone will offer you free advice on what to do next.

Download and familiarise yourself with Hijack this from here: http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/

Once familiar run the programme and post the log onto a forum, don't try doing anything on your own.

Afte that use WinXP SP2 with adaware, spybotS&D and MS Antispyware and always keep them updated.

i think that's the source of your problem (it is, itself, malware, it seems)
found the following "cure" on this site - don't know if it works, but hopefully it will help:
There is a solution, from Spyaxe itself, if you chose to trust them. They came out saying they apoligize, that it was a bad decision by a farm out marketing firm and their programmers came up with a fix: www.spyaxe.com/uninstall/uninstallers.zip
download the two files, scan for virus (of course, I ran McAffee VirusScan, they came up clean) unzip them and then run the first file, wait and run the second file. reboot and you will be very happy to not see that windows globe anylonger!

Ive used hijackthis before. They helped me sort out my problem quick quick
 
restart in safe mode and delete/isolate it with norton or just use adaware...

Shot guys! thanks for all the help! Took yo ppls advice, loaded firewall, then that hijackthis and bam gone...only lost a bit of sleep though...

i had the same problem. so i uninstalled norton internet security (antispyware ed) (which has a firewall and antivirus), got rid of them coz they clearly didnt protect my computer, downloaded kapersky antivirus, spy sweeper and zone alarm (firewall), and voila! no more problems. its amazing how wonderful the less popular programs are. norton antivirus claimed that my computer was virus free, but kapersky found like 30 trojans! spy sweeper found 100 traces of mal/ad/spyware, and with zone alarm no program, and i mean NO PROGRAM, accesses the net without my saying so. and i've only had it for like 10 hours and it has blocked 1600 attempts from remote systems trying to access my pc. for me this is the ultimate configuration for internet security. wonder if norton will give me a freakin refund...:D
