And how much would you spend on the flight to the USA?

The 5DmkII costs £2299 in the UK. In the US it's $2699 USD. That's around £1500. I'm sure I can find flights for £800. In fact, I just checked Virgin Atlantic. I can fly out on Saturday evening and fly back on Sunday night for £340. take £60 for a scruffy backpackers for Saturday night and food/drink, and there's enough left for a G9 or a nice lens

Flying at all, heck, even just going to the airport, was a treat when I grew up. Fortunately I've only done the LHR-JFK return trip one and a half times. And I'm not likely to do it more than once a year, if that often at all.

Mostly because of having family on both sides of the pond. School holidays meant at least one roundtrip sometimes more.

5DmkII samples here.

Goodness, looking at the last few samples, the only one that doesn't look very good is the very last, at 25600ISO. The rest, from 12800 down, all look very good. This is, of course, in good light, but still, I expected more noise.

@bwana, I asked to look at the 5D this morning, and the guy at the shop said they didn't have any left and aren't getting any new stock. Apparently Canon UK is not supplying anymore and he says people have been streaming in looking to get the last ones off the shelf. So if you're serious about getting one, don't wait too long.
