Cast-iron pans

i have a cast iron saucepan, a large thing - was my grandmother's, weighs a ton.
it's cast iron, with enamel coating - without doubt, the very best saucepan i have ever used.

however, over the years (last 3 or so), the enamel coating is breaking up and coming off.
any recommendations on a place in cape town that can re-coat the thing ?

What brand? If it’s Le Creuset they may very well replace it for you.

Otherwise re-coating really isn’t an option because it’s done during the forging process so the pan needs to be melted down and effectively replaced.

Are you sure it’s coming off though? That seems very unlikely. It probably just needs a very good clean.

took a look at their website - "products that last for generations".

this saucepan had got to 3rd generation (if i had kids, it would be 4th generation).
pretty impressive

Careful. If it’s that old there could be lead leaching out if there are cracks.

I know it isn't technically cast-iron, but does anyone know where to source <Made In> pots locally?
