Ok here is a situation, my sister has been on Debt review for the past 12 months, she was due for her cellphone contact upgrade last month, so she went and upgraded, my question is, is it legal for the SP to offer her that upgrade while she is under debt review?

Hi,

Yes it is. As long as her cellphone account was not placed under debt review she can upgrade.

Regards

Stupid though. Rather take a new contract that doesn't include a device (or switch to prepaid), cut hundreds off your monthly bill and put that into settling your debt.

Thats what i did. My contract used to go upto R800 per month and then i went to telkom sim sonke prepaid. Now with wifi at home and wifi at office i use the telkom 149pm option with 2gb data and 0.5gb social data, 300 minutes to telkom mobile and landline, 100 smses. And my normal rate 29c telkom mobile to telkom mobile and 79c anyone else.

And then i bought an s6 cash for R4000. Will last a few years.

My colleague still has to pay r499pm for his s6 and goes out of bundle every month. Usually 700-900pm

I hope her old phone was lost/broken and she didn't just upgrade for the sake of having the latest gadget. :(
