Hi,

My "Telkom ADSL Premium Combo" ADSL modem failed on me recently and it was replaced with a "Mega 105WR" ADSL Modem.
My problem is the default LAN address is 10.0.0.*. I need to change this to be something else so that my works dial in security system will engage and allow me to connect to work via ADSL. Works address is in the 10.*.*.* range and I need to be something different. IE 12.0.0.*.

When ever I change the LAN address I loose all connectivity to the internet, But this worked on the Premium combo with no additional configuration.

I suspect that I need to add firewall rules or ip forwading, but I am not sure and not too clued up in this regard.

Any assistance will be most appreciated.
Thank you
Andrew

you probably lose connection to the internet because your PC is still on the 10.0.0.* range and connecting through your router rather than pppoe, and I'm assuming it was assigned that by the router's DHCP. Once you've changed the router's IP, try repairing your network adaptor in the network connections window, or just restart your PC, to acquire a new IP.
Only thing I can think of. Don't see how changing the router's IP should affect anything else about it unless you have some kind of static routes or something that conflict.

Hi,
The Lan address does change to 12.*.*.* after repairing the network.
To my knowledge there are no static routes defined as everything is via DHCP.

Anyone know if there is a method to monitor the default modem firewall to see what it is doing during that time ?
