Color Coded Map of Africa using Excel

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to populate a spreadsheet with information by each of the country on the AFrican continent. I then want a Map that can colour each country based on the value in the CELL against each country. e.g. Algeria 5 should colour the country RED, but Egypt value = 10 should colour the country in the map with Orange.

Has anyone come across such a map? I can get a Map of the continent and then colour it manually using one of the tools but it sounds tedious.

Any suggestions are welcome.

My short answer:
I don't know of something like that.

My longer answer:
Do you have any experience with mapping or development? Perhaps find a free shape file of country borders on the net (there are a number), load that in a map viewing program and go from there. If you have any .Net skills, there are some .Net based programs out there. http://sharpmap.codeplex.com/ could get you started.
