Color Printer Recommendations - Epson or Canon

I also bought the IP4200 last week. Excellent printer. Photo quality is very good, but make sure you use Canon photo paper (plus or pro). I've tried other paper brands and quality was bad.

Have anyone tried different printable cd brands and compared the print quality? Which brand proved to be the best?

I printed on Verbatim 8X dvd-r discs the other day, but the colours seemed to be a bit dull. Do you know if there is a difference between the print surface of the 16X and 8X discs.

On Verbatim printable cd-r discs it seems one get a "paper" type surface and a "sand/crystal" type surface. (I think one is the 48X and the other the 52X printable discs). Anyone compared this yet?

Just go for the canon already! Its better and a really good printer, if you need the wireless theres nothing wrong with the IP4000R. But I find the dpi doesnt come in that handy anyway for most people as it's only used to its full potential on highest settings and then everything takes forever to print and wastes more ink so most people wouldnt utilise it very often.

Nothing wrong with the Epson. Would have bought it, but on advise looked at the IP4000 (Now IP4200) and found the economics is better. Thus I bought one.
I have HP 850C, Epson c84 beauty, Samsung CLP-500 laser +others with issues (not worth repairing)

Both R300 and Ip4000 have advantage of availability of Mass Ink supply's
But Ip4200 is still more economical

I've also noticed this while printing on my verbatim 8x dvd-r's (with IP4200)...anybody know of discs that has a better surface for better quality prints?

But its nice to have when u want to print high quality photos and stuff like that,

I don't see any difference in paper quality between the two speeds. I do get picture dullness sometimes, but that's mainly due to the picture that I'm printing. Have a look at the program you're using. If it's the same as mine the screen that pops up when you click on print has "Dark" and "Light" options. I use "Dark" when printing. If that isn't it try playing around with the contrast, brightness and colour options. I normally increase the contrast a small bit and drop the brightness.
 
One thing I like about the Epson is on the Verbatim printable DVDs you can print the full printable surface, looks very nice to have picture all over the place

Other than anything else it is worth remembering that the Epson printers should last longer

I got my epson sept 11 2001, i still remember the date;) . It hasnt givin a moments trouble yet
 
Canon IP 4200

Just bought one and this thing is amazing , double sided printing , cd/dvd printing. The only gripe was the time it took to set up. Also it is very quiet.

Still have my trusty old epson C43 running on generic cartridges since day one, only downside could'nt print on cd/dvd (maybe if it was modified) :)
 
Epson R200

well guys, i prefer my Epson. Reason being is i imported spongeless cartridgess thats always refillable. From then on my prints were cheap and qualety even better than with origenal Epson carts. I am currently thinking of maiby making a market here in SA, as no one has them yet or sells them here in SA. What do you guys think? The full package would include 6 spongeless carts, 6 chips and a chip resetter at about R915. Will this work or should i just keep with mine and forget about it? :)

The guys are already doing the generic and refill kits for these.
