Its uses a Asus board with the 865 chipset. Its like really cheap, sub R500.

thanks ssb - pity the Core 2 Duo won't fit into my socket 478 865 board. Busy looking at upgrading to PCI - DDR2 - blah blah blah and frankly the prices are scary( wants the 8800)

mebe should just buy a Ps3 for gaming

But PS3 games cost more...so you'll lose out in the end. And you can't upgrade your PS3 like your computer etc etc...

I've got the Asus P5P800, which is a socket 775 board, but I can't find out if I can fit a Core2Duo in it. Doesn't look like it, but I'll seach on the net.

Maybe the best it can take is a Pentium4 D930 processor?

You could go AMD instead and you'll save a lot, then you'll have more money for your graphics card which is going to have a greater impact on gaming than your CPU...

Probably will go AMD AM2 route - or wait and see how long I can last on my p2.4 +512M+6600GT nothing wrong with it - kick a55 on FEAR
