Please let me know if you are running a D-Link DSL-500G or DSL-504G and have problems with the sync on the Telkom 2Mb line. I will mail you the patch to solve this problem.[:D]

Hi, there D-link.

Flashed the firm-ware, buggered that up. [ Unable to get back into the router .So I sent it back to the suppliers ][They sent it to DLINK ]

Got it back today .
1.I am able to get into the router .
2.I am unable to connect to the internet.
3.When typeing this forgive my GRAMMER , PUNCTUATION AND SPELLING

Dear PFF,

If you have difficulty under the quick config, please go down to wan -- ppp and delete the existing ppp entry, add a new one submit it and go to admin then, commit reboot, and then you should be up and running. Please make sure that you are running PPPoE, VPI = 8, VCI = 35. Any further questions, please mail me from www.dlink.co.za go to tech support section.

Testing Ethernet/USB connection = Pass
Testing ADSL line for sync = Fail

In Home
Operational Status = StartUp Handshake never goes green !
wan interfaces [ppp1] = No ip address mask = 0.0.0.0 gateway = 0.0.0.0 Lower interface = aal5-1 VPI/VCI 8/35 status = red button

No idea what im doing wrong any help from any one please.

Is it possible to flash the firm-ware back to before the time of the Telkom 2Mb line sync problem ?

Hi there D-Link


When using BINATONE ADSL 2000 - all users can connect to internet
When using DLINK DSL - 504 - all users can connect to internet
When using DLINK DSL - 504G - Operational Status = StartUp
Handshake never goes green
Note 504 - is an obsolete model
504G - new model with firmware

In Diagnostics:
Testing Ethernet/USB connection = Pass
Testing ADSL line for sync = Fail

Note that we are running PPPoE, VPI = 8, VCI = 35

Same configuration were entered on Dlink DSL-504 ,
DSL-504G , and Binatone ADSL 2000

only model DSL-504G does not seem to synchronize .
Others do within 2 minutes of power on .

No idea what im doing wrong any help from any one please.

Dear Couttigane Sam,

One thing you must remember is that ADSL differs from country to country. This is because of the diffrent Telkom companies in the world. Please make sure that the DSL Version on the home page on your DSL-504G is in RSA T93.3.23, in Mauritius I think the W78 DSL Version might work beter. The reason why we run the T93.3.23 in RSA is because Telkom dropped the Sync rate from 6Mb to 2Mb sync rate and we had to ajust the Firmware according to this change.

Please go to admin and then diag and submit that, see what results it gives you. If it gives you line for Sync failed then you will have to contact your ISP and make sure what value the VPI and VCI must be and what Sync rate there lines is. If you have all this info please contact me and I'll try and resolve the problem then.

Hi,

I am also having a problem with my DSL-504G. This is my situation, with my old Telkom USB Modem my connection used to drop 4 and sometimes 5 times per day which I could tolerate but I thought some of the disconnections were due to the USB port on my server being faulty. So I looked on the net for an affordable Ethernet solution and found the D-Link 504G and so far I am NOT impressed at all. Now instead of 4 or 5 disconnections per day I get one every few seconds. I have checked that my VPI is 8 and VCI is 35. I am using PPPoE and the DSL Version is T93.3.23. Please could someone assist me asap.

Dear Richard,

Please use the following patch on your router.
Please note if you have installed a patch previous to this one, it is better to take the unit for a swap out and get a new one with the correct version on.

Dear Sir,
I have a client whose reqest is as follows :

An IT School has 200 students and all need access to Internet.
Because of cost the client prefer ADSL instead of lease line.

The client will provide us with 4 ADSL lines.
There should be load balancing amoung these ADSL modems.

By load balancing I mean ,
if for example, x numbers of users are on ADSL Modem 1 and x+1
need access to Internet , the new user will have to use ADSL Modem 2
instead of ADSL Modem 1.

This will prevent users to have limited bandwidth to work with.
The fact that the client is paying for 4 ADSL Modem , he must have value for money.

Please help me to find a solution for the client.

Hi D-link,

I see that there is a patch for the 504G available. What is that patch for? I have a problem in Sweden with a 504G with T93.3.23 that is close to the problems other has addressed here. My 504G will come up Ok with sync and everything, BUT it will not get the initial IP from the host! The reason is that I have changed the IP filtering roules to have Deny as default and then addedd a rule for keeping alive Bootp communication, and another for allowing Private to connect to Public with stateful inspection, thus I can reach the internet Ok.

But, now the 504G can not by itself catch the initial Bootp communication due to the default Deny. I have to so an extra Submit for the eop-1 connection in order to have the 504G to make a new intial Bootp turnaround with success.

This is not exactly the problem that have been addressed here, but I guess it is close. Thus it would be very interesting to have your opinion on that.

There has been problem to have the people in Sweden to realize the problem, but now they claim they have forwarded the "problem" to the headquarter (where it might be located), but apperently you have some "experience" already!

Just a comment of good will to D Link SA.

By reading this thread, its apparent that you guys value your customers, unlike Telkom.

I have used a few ADSL routers and Modems from Dlink. I found them very reliable and with great support. Herman has been very helpfull every time we have spoken. That is what i like when i speak to someone who knows exactly what they are talking about.

I would also like to congratulate D-Link Sa and particulalrly Herman, for their excellent service and after sales support.
If I problem does occur on a specific setup he is always available to help.

Also just for the record I used the Dsl-500G router before Telkom changed their line spec without any problem.
I applied the patch when Telkom changed the spec and now I still do not have any problems.

I upgrade my adsl 504g router. all light still blink and i can't do anything. because no network connection. i push the reset factory. no solution all ligth blink.
My dlink is a dsl-504G/EU V.B1
PLEASE WHAT IS THE SOLUTION
