I'm interested in how you guys connect to Sentech. Do you use the Sentech Modem Dialler software which creates a Sentech entry in Network Connections, or do you use your own dial-up entry (Like I am) to connect). I know this sounds confusing, but if you have a look at the network properties of the Sentech entry, you will notice that "File and Print Sharing" and "Client for Microsoft Networks" are enabled. I'm sure you guys have been using dial-up networking for a while now, and if you used a normal modem, or ISDN modem (TA), you never enabled these services, as you couldn't even connect.

My own created entry is exactly the same, but with these services removed. The new connection is thus my default connection which obviously never invokes the Sentech Modem Dialler software.

Now my question is, is the modem dialler software an important component of the entire solution, or does it make zero difference?

You don't need the Modem Dialler gooies, but it does show you a bit more information on what's going on during the connect phase, especially if you use form of the Rodent's debug tweaks.

Either way, I use PPPoE & Linux so the modem dialler is really a moot point

I connected with "rasdial sentech nroets 12345" since day 1.

How do you create such an entry?

Do you just set the mywireless modem as the modem, fill in your username/password and click connect?

I don't like the dialler software from sentech. It's ugly. And stupid - it should automatically try connect. Why else would I start the app?

Simple, make a copy of the sentech one (keeps dialup number etc intact), rename it from "copy of sentech" to something like SentechDial, go to the properties of your new connection, remove the services as per my first post in this topic, put in your username and password....and away you go. Don't forget to change your default connection under the Connection Settings of your browser and mail client.

I'm using the utility on:

The problem with using windows native dialing (and on-demand dialing) is that if it fails to re-connect, then it pops up a stupid dialog box... AFAIK the sentech re-dialer does not, but it again requires a registry hack to increase re-dial attempts)
