Did any of you see the highlights of the match between Sundowns and Free State Stars over the weekend?

Mamelodi Sundowns winger Dillon Sheppard had a successful operation at the Kimberley hospital where a pin was inserted into his broken leg.

The leg was broken during a heavy challenge by Free State Stars James Matola during the Brazilians 2-1 Telkom KO semifnal victory in Kimberley on Sunday.

According to Sundowns executive director Afzal Khan, an orthopaedic surgeon at the hospital where the operation was performed, Sheppard will be in plaster for the next three months.

I just saw it on Monday Night Football (Supersport 3). His foot was just dangling around as he fell to the ground after a collision with another player - pretty horrific! :sick:
 
I'm glad I didn't have to watch that and suffer alone... :sick:
 
Jeez. They could've warned us what they were about to show. I huddled in a foetal position on the couch, screaming, after I saw that :eek::eek::sick:

I don't think that the challenge was bad though, something just went very wrong.
 
I was watching that game on SABC1 ( I don't have a DSTV yet) and it was horrific. He'll be out for 6-9 months.

I think he should retire coz it's the second time he broke his leg. I suspect he lacks calcium on his bones. All his career was full of injuries.

Yeah, I felt nauseas after watching it. The replay needed some kind of PG 18V for extreme violence.

This happens in football, it's just that a year ago I broke the bones in my foot and now this," Sheppard said. "But I'm happy the operation is done and that all I have to do now is wait for it to heal."

I'm sure I read somewhere else that he broke his leg before, maybe it was just bones in his foot? Still, you're right - he should call it a day or get some serious medical advice.

That's not something you want to see unless you are made of steel.
It should not have been shown again and again without warning. It's really horiffic....Dillon said he hasn't seen it and he doesn't intend seeing it even in the future.

The worst part is that it wasn't even blown for a foul!!!! It was just very unfortunate for Dillon, now he must kiss his Bafana Bafana chances good buy (at least for the nation's cup next year) what a pity!!!
 
Yeah, there should've been a warning :eek:.

But I really don't think that it was a bad tackle - I don't think that the defender went in with the intention to hurt Shepherd. I mean you see tackles like that half a dozen times in any game. It was just freaky.
