Time will tell I suppose. One thing that I am frustrated with with the state of current forum software though is that it uses the old HTML frontend, POST, GET web app paradigm. Other modern web apps have gone more the Java Script paradigm. Gmail as probably the best example. (It was a happy day when I could drag&drop a file into my browser to add an attachment.) And can you imagine how horrible an HTML version of Google maps would be?

Discourse is one of these JS apps. The language breakdown on giuhub has 66.7% JS and only 33.3% Ruby.
