i have a pvr and a few channels dont woirk

just says searching for signal...and nothing

like CNBC africa, al jazeera, and a few others...

i reset the decoder, updated software, still nothing..

wtf..

any ideas?

Are you on a centralized dish system, like in an estate?
If you are then this could be the problem, I have the same issue with my PVR.

Boyrock - probably means your LNB is misaligned.

A strange thing I noticed on Sunday is that certain channels on my PVR play on TV2 but not on TV1 - MM2, ACT, SS3 and eTV are the ones that immediatley spring to mind. Started recently. Keep on meaning to ring DSTV about this.

It also doesn't look very English to me.... All we need is another foreign language channel. And the possibility of providing an English version doesn't ring true as they would be providing the same programming as Mnet / Series.... would be nice though.

They did mention somewhere that it would be in the General Entertainment section on the main DStv bouquet. Does sound odd but I hope it's true.

When I still had DSTV (I have now been clean for 7 weeks....), I just made a point of prerecording everything on time splice for like 15 mins and then watching - FF through those ads, one time!

Ok, so it's not just my decoder - probably some OTA upgrade that messed up the sound levels between channels, BTW also only started in the last 2 months on my decoder IIRC.

Ja its grim.. If only advertisers would realise that probably over half their viewers hit the mute button the minute the ads. blare on.... they might reconsider and insist that the volume remains the same as the program...

It's only a matter of clicking the "Normalise audio" checkbox in Avid.
I guess that's TOO hard for MNET.

I think its more that the regular programming is not boosted to the loudest it can go like the spots are. Then again nothing an Orban processor cant fix - something even small community radio stations own/rent guess mnet really dont have the will but they have the way

The sound level anomolies are a consequence of compression used by the advertising companies. The filters at MC can't lower it apparently.

You need a decoder with the ability to adjust the volume on each individual channels.

If you want LOUD, try the new channel SANI (SABC News International).!!
