Domestic workers can return to work under level 3 lockdown

Domestic workers can return to work from 1 June under South Africa's new level 3 lockdown, says minister of Trade and Industry, Ebrahim Patel.

That is certainly good news, though if either the employer or employee is in a high risk category, it would be wise to take precautions, or perhaps decline for the meantime.

My domestic worker is around 60. Not going to risk it, but will keep paying her.

I never knew this, since two weeks ago things were getting a little out of hand so I issued my domestic with an essential provider's certificate, and in it referred to, and attached my own, she provides me with essential hygiene services.

Didnt have one because we thought it would be risky. Still think it's risky and won't have a domestic in the house until we decide it's safe.
