Elitehost down?

We apologise for the downtime and inconvenience that this has caused. We have seen multiple waves of attacks to various parts of our infrastructure hosted in South Africa and Germany over the past week.

We have already put multiple solutions in place to minimise the impact, including a large Anti-DDoS scrubbing centre. This service went live this morning, and we are not seeing any further impact on services.

This is not the level of uptime that we as Elitehost strive to offer. We have been keeping clients updated via our helpdesk and status page at https://status.elitehost.co.za/

A further email will be sent out to all clients explaining the situation and the measures we are taking to minimise impact in future. If you have any specific queries please email us directly or log a ticket via our client area.

haven't been here for a while (which is a good thing) - my services are down, what issues are you having?

ahh from your website, hope you fix this yesterday:
Update - Further investigation indicates that the issue is affecting shared and reseller hosting accounts. We are investigating further and hope to have the issue resolved as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, Teraco has incorrectly decommissioned 2 redundant fibre connections to one of our racks due to a mistake on their side. This is affecting a large portion of our services. They are currently in the process of reinstalling the fibre cross-connects and services should be online by 17h45. Our apologies for the frustrations caused.

So maybe explain to us why this was not mitigated against?

Apologies for the downtime, our network is designed for full redundancy - incidents like this should not occur. We have two core switches, as well as two access switches in each rack where servers are located. These switches are connected using separate fibre pairs. In this case, Teraco decommissioned both fibre pairs as they share the same service order number. Teraco has confirmed this was an error causing them to decommission the wrong service order number. The redundant fibre pairs should not share the same fate, and we are waiting for a full incident report from Teraco.

Can you please ask Jason to respond to ticket 604828 - Mikhail is not assisting - going around in circles - why when trying to register a domain directly on co.za do I get a no nameserver for this domain even though the hosting has been set up correctly on elite host - this is annoying and even more so is Mikhail's responses.

Hello @lived666, I have checked into the issue and it appears the domain is being registered using the legacy Uniform email-based system. The zone is correct on our name servers and there are no issues, however, their system is still sending back an: "ERROR: No valid nameservers found - rejecting request.". This is an issue with the registrar you are using (ZACR) and you will need to contact them regards to any issues when using their legacy systems. I would advise registering this domain with an EPP based registry, such as ourselves as any name server issues will still allow the domain to be registered, but it will place the domain in a "Server Hold" status. This is preferable over the old NS checks they do on their legacy system.

Nothing is working this morning - please urgently advise. Websites and emails are down.

ignore - came on
