EPP domain questions

OK, seeing that you are so in love with this idea do this: During 2016 register your domains. Lets say you registered a total of 10 domains during the year and domains cost R75 each. 1st Jan 2017 load R750 into your registrar account while setting all your domains to auto-renew. You can now sit around with your dick hanging out and all your domains will be automatically renewed. While only one charge of R750 came off your bank account. Just make sure there will be no price increases during the year. Same thing for 2018, tally domains, tally renewal fee. And remove auto-renew from domains you don't want to be renewed and just load credit if you registered new domains.

Jip that's what I do and I do that with ~300 domains. Still need to move the other ~300 across.

I move them from the legacy system over to domains.co.za as they renew

And it's a life changer

Takealot doesn't buy anything.
WOT? :wtf:

The registrar is just that, most providers offer added services like DNS. 93% on R50 is still nothing for the admin and the costs needed to run it.

Once had a client who went with a cheapie to realise the guy was running it off a desktop (which fell over often) from this room at varsity running off the universatiy network. Problem was when he went on holiday for school break and server fell over. Client had no email or web site for nearly 3 weeks. needless to say, they learnt there lesson.
We aren't talking people running it from their garage. These are good companies with their own costs and they are still much cheaper.

Not all registrars charge that much - Frikkadel.co.za charges R57.50 per web.za, net.za and co.za per year, and offers a resellers interface.

@Swa

As Wayne mentioned it is not possible to change the renewal date of domain as this is determined by the date of registration. You can renew the domain prior to its renewal date and in this way consolidate your renewal fees. Renewing prior to the renewal date will add an additional year on to the existing term left of the domain name, but retain the renewal date.

The ZA Domains domain management system allows you to add credit to your account via three methods, and these credits are used for registrations and renewals. Thus you would not have to worry about adding funds ever few months if you added sufficient credit to your account for the remaining year.

Our control panel provides an automatic top up feature that will bill your card when it reaches a credit level you determine as low, and automatically top-up your account with an amount you specify. This makes renewals a completely effortless task and one thing that can be marked off your to-do list.

We provide our resellers with the ability to register, transfer and renew co.za domain names, web.za domain names, org.za domain names and net.za domain names along with the dot cities (.joburg, .capetown & .durban)

In addition we also support premium domain names for the web.za, org.za and net.za domains.

In reference to NullHypothesis comment about the differences in business models, ZA Domains aims to provide true white label domain reseller services by not advertising competing products on pages linked to our Registrar account. That is if you landed up at www.zadomains.net you are presented by a control panel and nothing else. This is by design :)

We support many of the major TLD's such as .com, org, biz and net and more. Pricing can be viewed from within the control panel along with a complete list of supported gTLD's, TLD's and more.

If you need more info on the services that we offer then use the link contained within my signature.

I've loaded up a coupon code to allow you to renew your co.za domain names at R55.00 - Use the coupon code Move-To-ZADomains at check out to receive the discounted price.
The coupon code is valid for the month of February and is available to all domain resellers

Thanks to NullHypothesis and Swa for their recommendations, kind words and mention within this thread.

If you have any other questions then feel free to fire at will, send a pm or pop us a mail.

My problem is this: OP thinks all registrars are equal when they are not and he is refusing to listen to experienced people. If he wants the cheapest he must go to this page and visit each site and find the registrar with the cheapest .co.za domains. Because that is all he cares about: price. And let him learn the lessons that others here have learnt that are trying to advise him better.

I have been with three registrars mentioned in this thread and the cheapest one mentioned here (its not ZA Domains or Domains.co.za) had the worst experience. The WHMCS was a pure vanilla out of the box install (all the US references was still there), the system was slow as the f word, I could not even log into their website as it had constant SSL errors, I was under the impressions some features of WHMCM was not working 100% or maybe it was just the slowness that it was taking so long and other tickety tack sh*t like that. And on top of that the company is so cheap it did not even want to pay $3 extra per month or $75 extra for a one time license to remove the "Powered by WHMCS" link.

I have two accounts with ZA Domains a standard one (which costs R70 a domain) and a reseller (which costs R59 per domain). I don't even care that I'm paying R11 more at the same place because they give great service and have a nice interface. Hell, I'll take Domains.co.za over the guys I just mentioned above any day and I've been known not to like them.

So let him learn his own lessons.

@NullHypothesi - I agree with your comments in which the OP has been given advice from others within industry and should take it how ever we do not know whether he has made any decision yet as to who he will use.

Generally speaking the domain reseller and web reseller business is determined by pricing, even more so when new companies are starting out and trying to make an impact in the market. These patterns change as the reseller becomes more reliant on quality of service.

With regards to your two ZA Domains accounts, the one would be a standard end user account and the other a reseller hence the difference in price between the two. Could you pop us a mail or PM with the end user account number and I'll have this converted to a reseller account so that the pricing on both accounts is the same, and in addition will pass a credit for all purchases on this account.

Once again, thank you for being a ZA Domains brand ambassador.

The end user account I opened when I left my previous registrar and that's basically my company domains. I was not familiar with the differences in interface or prices or if there were other fees and because they were just my domains end user is fine. I'm not too worried because I was paying R5 more than the end user fee at my previous registrar in any case. The reseller account I use to dabble in domaining so that is fine for that.

How is the Multi Domain Reseller / White Label coming along? I meant to look at it further and try it but never got around to.

The end user accounts don't have the same features as the reseller accounts, so it makes sense to convert this. If you don't want the refund then I understand but the least I can do is unlock the account to provide the same features as the reseller account.

The release of the Multi Reseller Domain Reseller beta has received a lot of interest by both Domain Resellers and Registrars. Oddly enough we're seeing more interest from the Domain Resellers in comparison to the Registrars which are onboard our platform.

We are constantly adding new features to it based on the feedback received from those who are participating in the beta and this has been instrumental in creating some thing unique for the ZA market.

Given your line of business might I suggest that you enable the feature and start playing with it as I am sure you'll have a few valuable suggestions to make.

Yep, that's the whole point at the beginning for the business's account. Just needed a EPP registrar to house the domains and to register domains and update nameservers to be used by one single company and that's why I did not delve deeper at the beginning as the reseller features was not needed there. I have moved domains between the two when the company was no longer going to use that specific domain. But I must spend more time looking into it.

No that is not it and you are not really listening. I am not looking for the cheapest here. I am commenting on a difference of 32% over that of some other reputable companies. It begs serious questions as to whether or not they are overcharging. This is not about the guy in his garage giving an extra R5 discount off the normal price. Anybody can scam you, even the one asking R99.

Really if 20% is enough to cover costs and make a profit then 93% is just outrageous. If won't be smart to pay that when a good company with good support asks far less.

Hi Jade,

web4africa is based in Ghana, not sure why it's showing South Africa.

DN Services is only a proxy ZACR registrar.

Internet Solutions only pays for their accreditation, they have no integration with any registry and their international domains are done through another ICANN registrar.

Dear NullHypothesis,

I can only assume you mean us in this post. I'm sorry if you had a bad experience, but I can assure you, you're the only one. We go out of our way to accommodate our customers. See http://hellopeter.com/frikkadel-co-za/compliments/great-reliable-service-and-prices-1903873 We're not aware of any SSL errors or slowness, and if you do experience any, please report it so we can investigate. We're always keen to improve our service.

Please explain
1. If provider is same?
2. Is DNS included?
3. Seriously R10 cover costs?
4. We talking small money here. 20% on R1000 but 20% on R50 is nothing
