Externals hard drive keeps disconnecting since getting Windows 10

Just got Windows 10 yesterday & one thing which has been happening since is that one of my external hard drives keeps disconnecting randomly, even while in use.

Has anyone experienced this yet & is there a fix?
I tried disabling the hard drive power down and checked all the cables, but the hard drive still disconnects.

I still have a month to chose to downgrade.

I've seen enough reports that convinces me it's for early adopters.
