Faxing with MyWireless

Hi,

The modem does not connect to a telephone network at all. As it is atm, there's no way to send a fax from the modem directly.

However, MWeb have an email-to-fax service where you get a free 0860 number which you use as your fax number and can receive faxes on it for free, but you pay per fax that you send out. Incoming faxes gets dropped in your MWeb mailbox.

Then there are other programs available on the net, free and commercial, where you run the server on a machine with a Fax interface and the client runs on your machine. You basically print to a virtual fax driver which in turn sends it over TCP/IP to the fax server where it gets placed in a queue to be sent to the destination. Unfortunately, I know of no company in SA that provide such a service.

I use the MWeb solution. It works perfectly.

Not nessacarily

Try www.cozahost.com or email [email protected]

They have a fax solution as well, you pay something like 60 bucks per month for your own 0860 number and you can also chat to them about sending faxes via email

Its not free like mweb, but it's still not mweb [:D]

Also, I think they're using IS-Fax developed by Internet Solutions. You may also contact Internet Solutions themselves to enquire about this. *shrug*

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

HEHEHE Rodent

Actually they developed their bandwidth prioritisation engine - the one where you can specific the bandwidth available to each ip in your range.

A mate of mine did all the interface work - yes I know they use packeteer and a few others but they do develop some things ;-)

Odd, I know a few people who work there as developers and programmers...

Wonder if they sit on their hands all day...

I have first hand experience of Internet Solutions's developers. They don't do anything aside from cocking things up royally.

Most of IS's serious development work is now outsourced to various small groups within Dimension Data in any case. Most of the work their inhouse staff do is systems programming, and internal systems development.

IS is once again a mostly "raw" ISP.

I've just subscribed to faxtoemail (Fax to E-Mail) and it costs R28.00 per month. You can receive unlimited faxes but it costs ± 50 cents to 80 cents to send. Check out faxtoemail.co.za

i for a faxmail subscription from allafrica.co.za

i am quite happy with service.R30 per month and then subscription same as telkom for local calls. But saving kicks in >50km coz use least cost routing.Receiving free.

I use a brilliant programme called WIN2PDF which prints pdf files directly to email,so although i use outlook express 6 generally for email;
I have to use office outlook to send faxes coz WIN2PDF integrates only with office outlook.

This system works for me extremely well
