Forwards the Required Ports

Sorry to put this thread here i just really need help and Marconi well...
I would like to know how to point traffic to MY computer from the router.
So when you type in your ipaddress it won't go to the router but rather MY computer. Also would like to point other port to allow netmeeting to work etc etc. I have a Telkom ADSL Router Pots 4 Port Ethernet Interface any support would be great.

THANK YOU

Bryan

I would love to google it just not sure what the Model number of my Marconi is

Is there nothing written on the modem itself? Try looking under it. Sorry bud grasping at straws here. If that fails get hold of helkom and ask them if they can't supply you with a model number.

Hey howcoza :-)

From what I've gathered, you can do that via the PAT settings (on some routers) also called bridge forwarding, or the port forwarding settings (some on others). (Search these forums for PAT or port forwarding.)

I have a telkom marconi 4 port ethernet (which initially has the firmware ETHADSL_USB_080902_REL8K). After spending a day searching for answers, I also gathered that this firmware version has some problems with port forwarding. So I upgraded the firmware to ETHADSL_USB_080902_REL9P-B7 via a DLF code upload. Still didn't want to work after that. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.

I think that modems with PAT settings use something like bridge forwarding (using MAC addresses) I have no clue how to use that feature with the ETHADSL_USB_080902_REL9P-B7 though. Also, they say that using PAT (what does PAT stand for anyway? I'm only used to NAT), one should forward traffic over ATM1 and not LAN (ETH). I have no setting like that on my router's web config page where i can change that.

*sigh* Oh well... guess I'll just have to use bridge mode and PPPoE. That is why I asked some time ago if it is possible to start a PPPoE connection as an NT service, before user login.
