The Freedom Toaster project began as a means of overcoming the difficulty in obtaining Linux and Open Source software due to the restrictive telecommunications environment in South Africa, where the easy downloading of large pieces of software is just not possible for everyone.

There I was thinking it had something to do with Toastmasters.

heh, "eish" moments like this suck, hey? But, being as I'm a cynical old fart (and don't count on information being available ) I also went the long way round, by way of go-opensource, then GLUG and only finally elgooG - only to find the oh so (bloody!) obvious site myself! ..oh well, live and learn!
