You can order a disc from these guys (I've never used them, so caveat emptor etc)
EDIT: Stick with ubuntu / kubuntu... it will be much easier to find solutions for a widely-used distro. OpenSuse is alright, mandriva is not what it used to be.
The Live cd will give you a desktop system with various office, multimedia, graphics and internet apps - a useful but basic system. The DVD contains more packages that you may wish to install. All of these packages are available from the online repos, so you can always select what you want later.
For my bandwidth, i would go for the cd then upgrade the specific packages I want later.
