From a happy iBurster

Not that I have to justify myself, but I used WBS when I lived in Australia and was happy with the service there so I signed on when they opened up shop here.

WBS is not iBurst, and iBurst is not WBS. WBS is the company responsible for rolling out the technology that is iBurst.

I think this is where you two got your wires crossed....

I here you w1z4rd.

I guess I'm just one of the very lucky people who have not run into any problems with IBurst. (Touch wood)

From the amount of compaints posted, there clearly is a problem with their service and I agree something does need to be done about it. Unfortunatly it seems to be a trend with most services in this country.

when it works,it works brilliantly, unfortunately, not everyone here uses their internet connection for non-business use. I've had several instances where I had to service overseas clients and that WBS (including Sentech) has let me down.

during the last year I've had my ADSL line, I've been offline for no longer than 16 hours altogether. This is not to mention the DAYS/WEEKS of downtime experienced with any of the wireless providers.

They started off well (like Sentech) but never expected that customers can be so demanding... and it's not because they expect too much from the service, the only expectation they had was that it was a faster more reliable alternative than Telkom.

a) They can't get their billing right
b) They can't get the bandwidth monitor right
3) There's a bunch of incompetent people at helpdesk

Even Mweb is plagued by this (however, their business helpdesk is always fast an effecient).... you get so much red tape that the person answering your call ONLY has access to answer your call... pathetic...

AcidRaZor - wow! READ, my boy. At no point in my post did I say that the extortionist prices we pay for bandwidth in this country are justified and I'm by no stretch of the imagination a Telkom apologist - I'm part of a team which manages the remote connectivity for 5 globally distributed offices, so I do have a slight clue as to what I'm talking about.

My point, which I think was quite clearly put forward, is that for some people's purposes, iBurst does the job. I suggest directing all that vitriol towards more constructive purposes!

We're down at the tip of Africa - bandwidth is artificially, but unavoidably, expensive

This is the bit I was pointing to; In no way do I say you don't know what you're talking about, I'm just REALLY annoyed by people who think (even though you say "artificially") that being "down at the tip of Africa" bandwidth is expensive.

That is the same excuse Telkom is flogging around and I reject it wholely. Rather rephrase by saying, "Due to Telkom - bandwidth is artificially, but unavoidably due to the monopoly, expensive"
