Gigabyte Router

HI I recently bought a Gigabyte B49G Router. Quite nice cause it can route and all, only prob is the DSL line is RJ11 and the router needs RJ45. So I can't toss the Marconi piece of cr@p yet !

I want to crimp a cable, but i don't know how i would wire the damn thing.

Someone please help, i hate my Marconi router and I wanna throw it away

That device is NOT a DSL modem, only a router. The RJ45 port is an ethernet port that would be connected to the ethernet port on your ADSL MODEM.

Plugging your adsl line into that by re-crimping the plug will blow it, and quite possibly the dslam port as well.

Use the "Marconi router" as a modem, and plug that into the Gigabyte Router.

No, not with the hardware you have at the moment.

not really, u need a modem to connect to dsl and if u wanna use that router u have to have a modem connected to it. No point trying 2 find a better way unless u have $ 2 buy new hardware...

You should have bought a ADSL modem/router combination product instead if you wanted to replace the Marconi.

One could also argue that your current setup is the best one, i.e. when we get something better than ADSL (one can dream), then just throw away the ADSL modem and plug the new thingy to connect to the internet into the router. That way you can use the same router for a long time, no matter what you use to connect to the internet.
