Green Algea in Pool - Constantly

Ok so I've got rid of most of the sand the stupid storm dumped in my pool.

Will get test strips today and carry on.

Also trying to figure out why my creepy avoids the deep-end, and likes to go belly-up when coming off stairs and just sits there upside down moving back and forth lol.

I've been in the house for 5 years so don't know how old marbleite is. In any case, I know if we have to ever do that , this pool is either going or becoming much smaller. Have an idea to make pool small, and use surrounding area as a deck. Will also allow me to close it off to comply with rules in case we ever have to sell

Does Marbelite require re-surfacing? I'm pretty sure this pool is the original marbelite from when the house was built so that puts it 30 at years+

You are wasting money on chemicals and wasting your time. Stop adding all kinds of stuff.
Throw in some flocculant. let the pool circulate a few hours.
Switch pump off and leave for a day or two.
Everything will settle at the bottom(including metal/copper)
Waste everything with one of those roller thingies. DO THIS SLOWLY
Now let pump and kreepy run a day or two to get the last of flocculant and dirt into the sand(because you did not go SLOW enough when sucking it out)
Now the most important. Change your sand, And now you can start you pool with a clean slate.
Test it yourself or take to pool shop to make sure you get get ph, stabilizer at the right levels.
Stop adding all kinds of **** the pool shops want to sell you, once you have a stable pool, you just need chlorine and acid. Stay away from chemicals like Blue52 that have copper in them. Although I do use one of these thing once every year or two, as your pool water does need a small amount of metal to fight the green algea.
 
I got my pool from green to blue using 2 boxes (for +-120000l) of hth shock it (the green 2 blue hth didn't work).

To keep it blue, the strip tests showed the total alkalinity was too low. I had to add about 3 bottles of hth alkalinity up to get it balanced.

It's a struggle fighting off the algae, probably need to take the water to a pool shop to do a proper test like the others have said.

So I went to poolshop who did the tests and said everything was fine incl stabiliser. Due to amount of rainwater in the last 3 months, he thought metal level could be high but they could not test it, so recommended I go to builders.

Never knew they had an automated testing. This is the result. He told me to add alkanity up which we saw in earlier post today. And chlorine of course.

Only when I got home and checked it, report says metal levels are indeed high and the HTH alkanity Up package says to also add metal remover (which I did not buy! Oops).

Thoughts from our resident experts? Before I add chlorine and alkanity upIMG_20220115_145104.jpg
 
if you guys want to try it you can use activator d, i have never seen anything as good at controlling algae, there are some risks with staining but if you do it right and particularly if you have an old pool that needs relining anyway give it a try

This is my regime for clearing green algae and it works every time.

Give a good backwash and rinse
Fix TA and pH levels and ensure stabilizer is in range.
In the morning add 5 cups of chlorine and 1 sparkle it cube ( clear cube ) in the weir, switch pump on for 24 hours
Same evening add another 5 cups of chlorine and leave pump on.
Next morning backwash and rinse a bit, add 3 cups of chlorine and carry on as normal.

If you dont kill the algae completely it will keep on blooming thus the reason for the high amount of chlorine.
 
Considering that all I had ever added to my pool was HTH chlorine and sparkle it cubes for nearly 5 years and never even having something as common as green pool, it's now interesting to be adding new chemicals etc.

It's like I am a lfish out of water - excuse the pun
 
Ouch your pH is high, but your stablizer and TA are low. No wonder the sticks were confused.
So you'll have to add acid to stop the pH, as when you add alkalinity up it will add to the pH a bit and you don't want that, only once that's balanced can you add stabilizer.
Once you've done that, then you can put in chlorine, but you shouldn't need more then a packet of super shock or 2.
I've also not seen hardness that high, means a lot of minerals in your pool
