1 rand a meg? thats a hundred rand for a measly 100MB and ONE THOUSAND RAND for a gig? are they intent on remaining the most expensive internet service provider in the country?

Just to top up after being capped ....

Iburst - R 249 per extra Gig (Broadband Booster)
mweb adsl - R 200 per extra Gig
sentech - R 1000 per extra gig (4 to 5 times more expensive)
I'm sure you can find more ...

(I might be wrong, but i cant find any 'booster' packages from them)

Edit: iBurst now do Pay Per Use at 95c per meg
So, assuming a Gig is 1024 MB x 0.95c = R 972.80
Welcome the second most expensive providor. However, they do offer reasonably cheap 'booster' packages to compensate.

Haha... yeah Sentech died a long time ago. They've shot themselves in the foot so completely I doubt anything could bring them back.

i think they aimed for the foot and hit the face... good riddance to bad rubbish

If we had an award for dumbest broadband provider of the year .... Sentech would win it. Second place would be any clientele Sentech has.

Harsh. Some guys are probably still stuck in 24 month contracts...I am guess that their network must be pretty quick as well because there is probably a lot of spare capacity :)

Its amazing how this is the common opinion of Sentech and yet they're oblivious to it. Perhaps someone should email this thread to someone high up in Sentech?

Here is the question. If Sentech realised that the opinion of them is so low, would they do something about it by improving service or lowering prices or both?

My Dad is still all tied up with them. I'm advising moving to ${OTHER INTERNET SOLUTION}

Oh they know. I told them all about it when the phoned me up to ask why I had canceled my subscription.

Sentech like any Govt Dept doesn't care !

Anyone remember the letters that Sentech sent out just over a year ago ? The ones telling all their high usage customers to get lost ?

That was their way of pissing away the majority of the few remaining customers they had.

Since they're essentially just another Government department, what make you think they care about their victims ?

It seems that they have realized that they are no good at internet, and are using these extreme prices to drive away their customers - it's just that some customers are too dumb to take the hint !

I wonder how their services that they provide to businesses are doing? They made a big splash about that a while ago but haven't heard anything since...

Sentech must be mad... They lost their marbles... Their higher ups are probably extremely incompetent... Anyhowz.. they're giving people the middle finger and they'll probably die soon...

In fact I pay R69/G on my 4M connection.
I beats me to think these retards haven't realized how expensive they're...and for what...a really crappy service

Ah... good old Sucktech, I remember it all, the e-mails where I got so angry that I used more four letter words in those e-mails than I have ever used in my life, or ever will use in my life combined.

Our shiny innocent little eyes picking up our little sliver modems, expectantly installing it, using duct tape, prestick, the sucker that came with it to find the best position in the house for it. Following which we used Pringle cans, Woolworth’s custard boxes attached to the ugly little black antenna to try and boost those little orange lights on the unit.

Great members of the local community who wrote improved versions of the drivers, improved versions of the dialer software. Months of trying to solve the infamous Hyper threading bug where the net would just stop working. And the oh so lovely there is no Linux, no vista drivers available for the product.

We believed they had great intentions when they offered to meet with some of our senior members of our forum to discuss what had now become a revolution of consumer unhappiness with most of the posts very emotional and obviously furious at the treatment we were receiving. I remember weeks passing where we were all capped at 13kb/sec with no explanation or a denial that this was even going on.

The members came back and said very little, I still to this day do not know what went down there, perhaps someone knows? Conspiracy theories were abound with people thinking that Sucktech even paid off the forum members to not pursue the campaign any further.

It was the worst of times; it was the worst of times.... Sentech R.I.P, for all intents and purposes you still have no idea that I have not been part of your user base for two years. What a horrible company, and to all those support guys and girls who took all our flames, absorbed our hate, I hope none of you killed yourselves, we salute you. And please do not go work for Tel***! :)

Sentech, we came, we saw, we had no idea, but eish our modems were so shiny.
