One needs to have vision and think outside of the box. CT very much has the potential to have an entire economy based on investment tax incentives, banking, trade to Africa and tourism. It's the only city in Africa with this potential.

I considered Paarl a while back, never applied to the specific job but I liked the company and position (at least on paper).

Problem is, here in MP I basically stay in what seems to be a mansion considering what is available to an average budget there. Never really got to discuss salaries or anything yet, but I am almost certain I would have had to downgrade to a matchbox with two carports.

That was already getting expensive. Around here I got about 1200m2 with about 350m2 of real estate on, half of which is rented out. And should shtf and I sit empty, normal average salary for an artisan around here still foots the bill
