Hi folks,

I've found similar threads, but none that really addresses my issue.

My current setup includes a desktop PC connected to a Telkom WR100 via ethernet port. I also have a netbook that connects to the modem wirelessly to allow internet access.

I want to know whether it is possible for me to share the drives on the desktop so I can access them from the Netbook.

Help and guidance will be much appreciated.

In a nutshell... yes. I have a win7 pc wired to the router and watch movies on the HDDs in it on my winXP laptop over wireless. You just need to share the necessary folders on the pc and connect via the laptop using \\pc-name\folder-name. That's pretty much all I did and so far so good.
I'm sure there's 'better' ways of doing this but well . . .

I'll try again, but it was like I couldn't et to two PC's to communicate.

Netbook running Win7 starter.

Desktop Win XP.

Make sure firewall (AV and/or windows) is turned off,
enable file sharing
make sure your ip's are sorted.
Test connectivity with ping

Thanks, I'll try this, but in the long term, is there somehow I can just allow the connection as an exception through the Firewall?

I don't think I turned off the firewall. I think the folder sharing sorted out the permission/connectivity.

I got it sorted last night - I had to turn on "Network Discovery" in Win 7.
