Help,PC not booting :(

Ok, well i had a virus on my pc yesterday, so i used kaspersky to find out the files, it infected all my windows files in the "WINDOWS" folder, and all my *.exe files So the virus and infected files are gone, but it restarted my pc, and now it won't boot it gets to the windows xp professional logo, and the bar just moves and moves, but nothing happens I left it for an hour still nothing! Luckily i have 2 hard-drives so i installed Windows on my second HDD, then i got the new Windows to boot, so i dont overwrite all my downloads on my 1st HDD. But when i get onto the newly loaded windows, i want to get my videos and movies from the 1st HDD, but all the stuff was in a folder on the desktop, so i go on the 1st HDD and go "documents and settings" then i click to go into the profile "jay" but then it says access denied! But i know the stuff it there coz the virus only got the Exe files Ok erm

1. How can i get my old windows to boot, coz it gets suck loading at the windows xp logo, what can i do?

2. Is there a way i can get into the profile "Jay" In "documents and settings", Because it keeps coming up with an error, "Access Denied"

U have 2 take ownership of the folder.
Go into Properties | Security ,click advanced go into the Owner tab and click ure name then OK and OK . Go back 2 Security and give ureself some rights.

Edit: Sorry 2 see the security tab u need 2 put "Use Simple File Sharing" off in the Control Panel |Folder Options | View tab

In the Local Security Policy put the file security back 2 classic

My guess would be you delete some windows file that windows needs to boot. You can restore your Pc by using Safe mode. When your pc is starting up. (i.e the black screen with white text) keep pressing F8 and a new screen you have never seen before will popup. Select Safemode from the list. Once Pc boots follow instructions for Pc restore.

2. Is there a way i can get into the profile "Jay" In "documents and settings", Because it keeps coming up with an error, "Access Denied" This happens when you made your files private. There is a way to get round this but you'll have to know what you are doing. (My guess is you put your hdd into another pc but could not get into files, am I right?)

Well I can I do it all the time. Try and get it to work, its better you learn how to fix it yourself than have some1 else do it. The safe mode option should work. If not, take the windows CD and use the repair install. If all else fails you have me as a backup.
