Help with remote email

My daughter in Texas has a broadband connection and can receive her email (from Mweb), but cannot send. She does not have a service provider as she is in a hotel while waiting for an apartment. Is there a way that she can send mail. At the moment smtp.mweb.co.za and smtp.saix.net are coming up with problems

or otherwise if she can get the name of the broadband provider who provides the broadband to the hotel's and go to its website and get the name of the SMTP server from it and use that instead.

Yep - thats the only way. You can receive mail on any ISP account. But when u send mail u have to use the ISP that is connecting u to the net's smtp server.

Presume she uses the email client software (eg. Outlook Express, Thunderbird etc) to access her emails. For anti-spam and security reason, all SMTP servers have been( should) set up in a way that only the sender has the same IP network section with SMTP server (the case you dial into Mweb) or sender has been authorized to use the STMP server. Since she is remote, the only way she can send emails via Outlook Express etc is to turn on the SMTP authentication.

For Outlook/Express, go to email Account Properties setting, on Servers tab, check the "My server requires authentication" checkbox, in most case, that will be enough, otherwise, click the "Settings..." to adjust.

You can config other email software in the similar way.

Like others said, using Mweb email web interface is an option, but disadvantage is that you lose your email management which you used to.
