Hook Up Keyboard, Mouse and PlayStation Controller to the Xbox 360

Even if the consoles have taken over the gaming market, some still prefer the old-fashioned PC as a gaming device. They seem unable to let go of their mouse and keyboard. So, XCM came to the rescue and developed a device that allows you to hook up your mouse and keyboard to an Xbox 360.



This news comes via teamxbox, reporting that this is not an authorized peripheral. Besides attaching a mouse and a keyboard to the Xbox 360, it allows you to hook up an PlayStation 2 Dual Shock controller to the Microsoft console. Kinda ironic, don't you think?

This might come in handy for gamers, as some games like Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, which were initially meant for PCs are coming to the Xbox 360. Frankly, I can't quite figure out how you can play a real-time strategy like Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars on a console, Half-Life I would manage, but Command & Conquer? No way! Thanks XCM for this adapter.

This adapter could give the Xbox 360 an edge over its competitors, the PS3 and the Wii. If you were to ask me, I would choose an Xbox 360 in a heartbeat over any PS3 or even a Wii. I don't know, it has a larger appeal to me, considering the fact that it can cope from a graphics point of view with both the Wii and the PS3, even if it was launched almost a year ago. The 360 also has a highly competitive online downloading system, thing which Sony only dreams of. They have plans to release such an online system but we will have to wait some more.

Problem is that it mimics a controller, so it's not real "mouse" control. I could imagine it uses movement speed to map to the analogue stick.

The other thing is how the heck do you use that sitting on the couch?

I think, but I'm not 100% on this, the machine has the ability built in to use keyboard and mouse but they have left it unactivated and only allowed it to be used in chat sessions via the menu interface. Perhaps they will enable it for games when they want feel the need to add a fresh feature, an update or such.
