Waah ... now this is realy frustrating...

iBurst has been telling me since the day i started with them "4 months ago" " end of the month we will be installing a tower in your area" blaah blaah fish-paste
And every month roun-da-bout the 20th i phone them to confirm the new tower ... then it's like " err aarr.. no you see other area was more important " blah blah fish-paste...

I have email from tech-desk right through to managers... and no-one can tell me stuff off you not important so f'ng wait till we tell you we doing a tower ... but nooooooo  they will give some lame ass reason ....

Any one else in Benoni north / Rynfield AH area ??
Lets get to gether and ask all @ the same time ...

They are as bad as SAPS and Newspapers with excuses ...

Kempton Park

Well, in Kempton Park the signal is just going down hill. The problem is that I am far away from the tower and users closer to the tower gets priority.

same here ... kempton is the closest tower to me .. and it's @ 12km :0:

if the complex had telkom infrastructure i would have gone for ADSL but since we dont have .... iburst is my only option .. :(

I live on a smallholding and we do have telkom infrastructure. My neighbour has ADSL but Telkom can not service me. I placed an order for ADSL and they said the job will be completed by beginning of Aug 06. I phoned Friday and now the new estimate time is Dec06 - Jan 07. No ports available but two weeks ago they confirmed that I can get a 1mbps line.

My Telkom experience started bad. My iBurst experience is bad. The signal level is terrible and the accounts department is a joke.

dun worry i can see the ibust tower from my window and my flat panel antenna can see it too but i mainly get 30-40KB/s average - although lately things have been quicker.

never have had issues with their accounts department - probably because i have never phoned :D

i'm in Noordheuwel not even in the zoned. throughout the day i get 10-20kB/s.

3 in the morning i got 60-70kB/s

Took my pc to the greenzone in Ruimsig, got a download speed of 120 - 140kB/s

I've also phoned iburst several times... the first time they said that they were going to install a tower for Noordheuwel in 2 weeks. then the 2nd time i phoned they said that Noordheuwel isn't even on their planned towers

lol.. im hoping those are just call center operators trying to sound good for themselves by making like they know something or something is going to be done.

If it was actual mamgement it would be even worse, but you hsould just look on the Iburst signal map and go to the planned coverage page. At least then you know the planning is official.

Install pride in your employees and the work they're doing - and you'll get above average service.

I know what should be done, why can't iBurst's dumb-ass managers not see it? Oh, they're in the pub again?

Sorry.

How do you define that priority? coz i'm like 2-3km away, but my signal strength is terrible due to obstructions. Is priority now based on distance or signal strength??

Interesting, that was one of the best towers last year.

And yes if the BS cannot get a strong signal from your UTD it artificially downgrades your speed to keep errors rates to acceptable limits. Both the UTD and the BS have code to implement this. Unfortunately the technology never took Africa into account.
