Okay to continue this discusion hideip seems like it hides your ip, but when a ip finding site queries the proxy it shows your real ip adress, second thing, how do you hide your computer name from the world? That's my 101 annoyance factor, everyone can see what my poor pc is called which sucks.

look into tor and privoxy, the firefox browser has an addon for it. it will link you to an anonymous proxy network, 25 bounces all encrypted with ssl. such a degree of privacy is useless if you use windows, windows has spyware no matter what, even sony spies on windows users. use linux instead, once you realise linux aint xp and use linux like its linux, not xp, its easy. what i mean is, new linux users want to download exe files and click, instead of using a package management tool to install new software, or they try download drivers, which are installed by default already. like with xp there is a learning curve, but worth looking into if you are really concerned about your privacy. ive used tor, privoxy and an encrypted hard disk, was a good experience. since encryption might not be legal, i deny having actually done anything i just said.
