How does this 3g card thing work and what is it a wireless or something. I've hered some funny things about this thing and stuff and i dont know if it is true plz can you help me out thanks :confused: ​

Hi Ausse

  • Vodacom 3G is wireless.
  • 3G works with a 3G cellular phone OR a 3G Data Card.
  • 3G allows you to make video calls from a 3G cellular phone - if the phone has a builtin video camera, as well as ordinary cellular phone calls & send/receive smsz like an ordinary cellular phone.
  • The 3G Data Card also allows you to send/receive smsz.
  • You cannot make/receive cellular calls with a 3G Data Card, although it does have a sim card & cellular number like an ordinary cellular phone. Although you can make/receive VoIP calls from the Laptop or PC that the 3G Data Card is in.
  • 3G on either a 3G cellular phone or the 3G Data Card allows you to connect to the Internet via Vodacom - if you have a good 3G network signal/coverage in your area you can transfer data at speeds that are much better than a 56kbits/s dialup modem. If you are not in a good 3G coverage area, you can still transfer data using GPRS which will be slower than 3G, but GPRS is widely available.
There is a lot more to 3G than what I have mentioned here, but it is essentially great for connecting to the internet if you need to be mobile, you can even connect from other countries according to International Roaming agreements that Vodacom has in association with Vodafone.
