How long will I wait

Hi all.

I've faxed through my application to Sentech 2 days ago. I just want to know how long I'll have to wait before I get my modem? Haven't heard anything from them as yet. Has anyone tested in the Helderkruin region? Is the tower the one on the hill close to Horison View overlooking doreen road?

I just got my modem yesterday. I registered on the 24th, so it took nine days total.

What I did do however, was to phone them once a day and indicate I needed the modem urgently (which I did)
The credit check takes about 4 days.

Do yourself a favour and give them a call to ask if they've received your application.

I originally registered on the 20th and by the 24th I'd heard nothing so I phoned them. They took a while to find my application and then said that I needed to send in the six page form (god knows why) - anyway, after I got that sorted I phoned every day

I gave up on the 0860 number and phoned the fourways office direct and dealt with someone there - number 011 691 7000

Bottom line - keep bothering them.
That's pretty much the only way to get services delivered in this country.

Yeah - I was kinda lucky as I just moved into my new place and it arrived the day after (no phone here)

Don't get too excited, you still need to see if you can get connected when you get it !
I tried all day yesterday and into the night with no luck.
I finally reinstalled XP and it worked fine - not sure why.

Linux is ok.

2morrow I'm going to try and hook the modem up to my Linux firewall so I can get my other linux box online along with my win box.

What really rox is linux/windows boxes side by side with a keyboard/mouse/monitor switcher - my current setup.

Yay - cool thing is now I can d/l linux distributions to meddle with anytime I want !

bb_matt, if you were running Win98, then there is a patch on the CD you need to run first.

I'm using XP, but I think it was because I customised my services quite agressively. My old setup at my previous accomodation was Smoothwall with modem connected and green to hub and all my puters, so I disabled a bunch of modem/network related services.

As anyone whose messed with services before knows, it can be a bear to get some of them started again. I tried for hours then decided to simply reinstall.

I need to get firewall up and running with the IPW modem, but need an ethernet cable first.
