I suspect I'm asking a very newbie question but here goes:

How much bandwidth does it use to listen to streaming audio at 28k or 64k for 1 hour?

With bandwidth costs being what they are I'm worried I'll run up a huge bill if I listen to streaming audio for a few hours.

If u stream audio at 64Kbps it will consume 28MB per hour

Streaming Audio is gr8 fun, but can become and expensive hobby after a while. What I try to do is record the music that I am streaming, so that atleast I can listen to it again - gets more value for your bandwidth.

Also streaming audio 64kbps is not really worth it - the sound quality just isnt "all-that-enjoyable" - but I guess its personal preference!

Well it is kind of a newbish question, because you've given the answer right there. :p

64kb/s = 8KB/s bascally the connection speed we use to measure our lines 384kb, 512kb etc is 8 times a real kilobyte, like datausage eg 3GB.

So you're using 8KB per second, then thats 8*60*60 = 28800KB per hour, or /1000 = 28MB, like someone said. So you could work this all out for yourself. There might also be a little overhead, like uploading some info back etc, but it will be very little.

Why does some streaming sound like it is in a tube and other's sound fine?

567.co.za sounds like it is in a tube ...
cnn.com sounds fine ....

Lower quality streams most likely, I wouldn't go under 96kb and that sounds bad enough. I'm sure the local sites can't afford to host higher quality streams with our bandwidth prices.
