I've just got a Nokia E70 after having a Motorola V3 for a couple of years. I'm very happy with features like the QWERTY keyboard, high-res screen and 3G. The bulkiness and "back-end-of-a-bus" looks will just have to put up with.

I really want to get rid of the "Nokia hands" and chime on start-up though

Is there a fairly simple way to do this without voiding the warranty?

MY Nokia 6680 (like most other Nokias) have a setting for the "Welcome note or logo" option under phone settings. Default is "the hands". text you put in your own, and obviously image is your own image

I've changed this under Tools/Settings/Options/Phone/General, but the text message comes up AFTER the hands/chime.

I'll have to go back to my old alarm clock. It just spoils my entire day having to listen to their jingle when I use the phone alarm to wake up!

I have modified my meeting profile to no alert tones what so ever, no vibrate & no ring tone either. Only the alarm tone will sound. Therefore no need to switch the phone off at bedtime. :)
