How to set up 3x TV's on DSTV

With an HD PVR (2P) the one with 2 tuners and the SD PVR
This is my setup

It's not difficult with a clearly identified multi switch.

Getting the IF to the decoders through a switch is the easy part. Getting your RF to 5 screen with the XtraView heartbeat set up correctly is slightly more tricky...

This is true.
I used to loosing connectivity for days at a time because of heartbeat issues.
 

That's what it looks like but it works 100%, have no issues with the heartbeat or TV eyes, I actually have 4 TV's and only 2 with the eye but I'm too lazy to draw them in :p

Basically

HD PVR: TV Eye On, Communication Port RF In, Relay Commands Off, Accept Relayed Commands Off
SD PVR: TV Eye On, Remote Mode SD PVR Only

The TV's that don't have eyes are isolated from the 2 that do with a resistor (?) (the one built into the wall mount ellies supply)
 
I would take the RF outs of both decoders into a T-piece then feed the third input of the T piece into an slx splitter then I'd add an eye to each tv. I would also supply the splitter externally.

Wouldn't this setup work?
 
BTW.. We have a SD and HD pvr setup.. We can record two channels and watch three. I did the install myself when I was sixteen which was in 2010. I had very little knowledge on the subject... You need to do your research and Google everything. Surprising I remember multichoice having quite a good guide on the topic. Excuse my typing doing this from cellphone.
 
Just such a pitty you can't share playlists between the 2 decoders :mad:

You could replace those two f-type splitters with one 5 buck t-splitter connected to the rf outs on both decoders. You would need a slx splitter instead of the plastic box splitter to run two tv-links.

Beat me to it. If by "supply the splitter externally" you mean with a PSU then, no, the dc output of the rf ouputs on the decoders is sufficient to power a single tv-link or a slx splitter through one two-way passive splitter. If you had a second slx down stream you would need a PSU for the second one.
