Huawei G7 blurry text

Before I got my G7 on Sunday, I've read many reviews about the device, and all of them said that they were satisfied with the 720p resolution of the screen, and that the difference between Full HD is minor.

I took that into consideration when I upgraded from my P6, as it's the same resolution, but smaller screen size (4.8" compared to 5.5" of the G7).

Now compared to my P6, the screen is not as crisp, and I seem to have blurry/bleeding text when the text is bolded, whether the text is big or small, I still see quite a lot of blur/bleeding, which was never a problem with my P6.
My question regarding this is, is it just MY screen, is this just how the G7's screen is, OR is it a firmware issue that doesn't render bolded text well?

I've asked on XDA, but none of them have noticed this on their devices, but they also do not have the Vodacom firmware (B247), so I just need to confirm if it's firmware related, or if I should take my phone back for a replacement.

I'm still in my 7 day return period, so I don't want to take the chance of updating the firmware, because as far as I know, you need an unlocked bootloader to update to a different carrier's firmware, or something like that.

As an example of the text that is very blurry is when adding apps to a folder, by pressing the plus sign within the folder. I've changed the text size to large, so hopefully it's a bit more visible. EDIT: I'm sure you won't be able to see that it's blurry from the screenshot, but it's just an example of the text that is blurry on my phone. When I view the screenshot from my tab, the text looks fine, so I'm not sure what it is.

I noticed the same blurry text issue with a demo G7 at Cell C. I think it's down to the type of screen that they've used. In order to achieve 720p on a 5,5" screen they've cut down on some other areas. It's like the sharpness on 7" IPS Lenovo tablets vs the crispness on Samsung AMOLED screens. I suggest that you have a look at a few demo units in different stores and draw a conclusion.

What's the price of the G7 these days?

I had a quick look at my wife's G7 and it seems fine , she has a Cell C unit . I'll have a longer look again later on when I get home .

Thank you! I've looked at the demos, but never really paid enough attention to the text rendering, because I mostly just wanted to test the fluidity of the device, and the settings screen text looked fine to me, and also from my P6, I assumed the screen would be fine. I also wasn't disappointed by the screen of the demo, which is why I took this phone anyway. Unfortunately, I'll only be able to go to the shop this weekend again, before giving birth on Monday. I'll waddle on back to Vodacom and Cell C to check their demos.

Thank you so much, I'll really appreciate that!

Alright, so just an update, but I've seen more demos of the G7, and it seems that is how the fonts are rendered. It's quite disappointing, but that really is my only gripe with the phone. So, I'll have to fight my OCD tendencies, and just live with it.

Does the G7 use IPS? I noticed that IPS screens tend to be more blurry than Super AMOLED. I recently upgraded to the Sony Xperia E4 and it's kinda blurry but manageable.

Not to derail but I've acquired the Huawei Mediapad T1 7" model from CellC.

Screen is not so crisp when compared to the S3 Mini or the Asus Nexus 2012, but it doesn't bother me as my eyesight's not as it was. :o

IPS touchscreen seems to be not as responsive on the first touch after being unused for a while, but you learn to adjust.

The price suits my wallet just fine!

Yes, it uses IPS. Not that I know anything about that though. I thought it was a good thing, but I'll do some research about it.

My eyesight is pretty bad, too, being near-sighted, so I can't help wondering how much more it would've bothered me if I had perfect vision.

My touchscreen is also a little off sometimes, but that doesn't bother me too much, as it's very seldom that it happens.

Same story with the Huawei T1 8" yet it's HD. Screen is dim and the colour is washed out. On the plus side, those devices batteries tend to last longer than the equivalent from Samsung.
