I hate the new Google Search menu

Script is legit. +1 for poster.

Half of the google search results I get these days are shopping sites. It is really starting to piss me off when I'm trying to actually research something and I have to mine through 3 pages of online shops in the USA trying to sell me a product only somewhat related to my search. And searching for SA sites only is just tedious...
You can make it remember sites you don't want to see. Never used it...but the option is there.

people are so against change... i wonder why we dont have more guys grunting when they see the toaster pop out toast and smashing it to the floor and running into their caves to hide.

I agree - wrote it off as chasing post count, or spewing out the 'cliche' for today...

No cliche and I don't need post count.

All I'm saying people bitch about change constantly. Why? Why not just accept **** will change and evolve all the time?

People bitch because YouTube changed their layout. A few years later, they bitch YouTube changed their layout again.
People bitch because Facebook changed their layout. A few years later, they bitch Facebook changed their layout again.
People bitch when Google change their menu layout. A few years later, they bitch Google changed their menu layout again.

Why the **** spend so much time and energy AGAINST change and evolution and moaning about ****? GUESS WHAT

THEY WILL CHANGE IT AGAIN

I'm not against change. I can handle it more than most people, my life is proof of it.

I am against the fact that functionality was removed or alternated and that it takes longer now to do a simple search and filter, than it did for years before.

So please don't take everything personal and highlight the problems of humanity. This isn't about personalities or people and the fact that they moan and groan about everything. It's a simple topic which highlights a mistake in a large company's web design, which doesn't improve life, but makes it more tedious.

not really highlighting humanity or anything. you guys seem to conveniently forget Google runs parallel testing of these UI changes (as well as search result changes) and has thousands of testers as well as quite a huge pool of people who they push the change on to see the adoption/feedback they get.

If the UI change went live they didn't make that decision willy-nilly or lightly.

Knowing this and how their change process works, is the reason why I'm flabbergasted at this thread. I fully understand the reasoning behind this, but this too will change as Google gets more and more feedback. Their track record proves this

I'm an engineer, so change is my work, but that change has to result in improvements

normally software updates have a change log, which explains what has been changed and the reason

now if Google could do that, things would probably make sense

Very late to the thread but just my 2c. This new change is very freaking annoying.
This is not the same as people bitching about Youtube changing some colors.

I just did a google search to see if others are also complaining - couldn't find anything.... so we are the only unhappy ones or google is filtering the complaints out (or I did a fooked search :) )

I also have no idea what all the fuss is about. I type whatever my search is, in the text box, hit enter. Job done.

I also can't seem to find the little gear where I could set the search settings to for example how many results to display, child safe search, auto-complete etc...

Are others having the same problem?

edit: and now it suddenly works again...
