Hey Peapod, welcome back.

So Carte Blanche is finally ready for us? I'm pleased about that - I guess never too late. But wouldn't it have been great for them if they had "broken" the Telkom ADSL ripoff story? Instead of now just riding the wave.

Carte Blanche have watched activity with interest - whether this translates to an actual story/show or not remains to be seen - we can but try.

Voodoo has real issue in Mandini. He was told that he has to collect a certain number of interested names before his application will be considered. It is laughable.
I mean, we won our batle here in Ballito/Salt Rock after a year of shouting and screaming - did we set Telkom policy perhaps by petitioning for the service? It seems so since Voodoo has now got to follow the same course of action by Telkom's own instruction in order to get ADSL delivered to Mandini - a thriving town, not the surfers paradise Telkom obviously think it is! Or maybe towns in Natal with Zulu names automatically translate in Telkom Speak to "not worth the effort".

Would this not be an issue to which ICASA could attend?

Maybe another public hearing where the public can complain that the de facto monopoly does not service the needs of the country...

I guess if enough people send such a request ICASA will have no choice but to start the process again to have Telkom explain in public why Mandini and many other places can't have ADSL.

Update - ICASA have responded and it looks like we are on again with another ICASA/TELKOM battle - this time not to question the quality of the offering but Telkom's reluctance to make it available to everybody
