You guys are sooooo quick to judge, yeah it was my first post but i've been a member since 03-10-2005, it's not like I signed up to talk some crap I don't know anything about :o

This is just the only thread i've felt the need to add too.

I bought an EVGA (probably the best make) 7800gt pcix, it cost me R2950 to my door. I think the cheapest you can get here is around R3400 for a make that can't compare to EVGA.

I actually do that card here for R2695.98 incl VAT ( work it out $295USD is R1800_+ + shipping R149.00 + markup still comes no where near R2950 )

Geez Guys everybody have to start somewhere. As long as all ducks is in a row legally as i stated in the previous post of mine, I will give them a chance. Start small and build up trust.

Person also started at one time and now I see him do all his bussiness on MyADSL? who cares if it works for him; good, he should not crack others that want do do the same here else RPM must stop all commercial activity on this forum. That will not benefit the members here at all as i feel a person would not last here for long if he cheats or overcharge anybody as it will be advertised here. Maybe one day Person or importdirect can do me good. I can also supply PC goods, but at the moment it is not my core bussiness only a sideline for my own use and for friends the core is Industrial goods and services .

So give everybody a chance. Chancers will hang themselves quickly here so be warned.

Jeeva, I have few questions that might interest everyone here, hence I am asking them here:

1. You say shipping is weight @ +/- R140/kg, does this mean if I order say a memory card and it weights 100 grams, I pay R14 shipping? Or I pay ~R140 minimum?

2. The handling fee, what does it depend on? I mean 10-25% is quite a broad range and makes huge difference.

3. When you say shipping in America, don't you need to provide an address (zip code) in order to calculate that shipping from the retailer web site?

I would also like to know, heavy items like LCD screens, do they still get shipped at R140 per kg? What if I am not in a hurry and want to ship something that is 20kg (like a AV receiver)? Do I pay like R3,000 shipping? It defeats the point a bit.

Agreed. That is why i dont understand all this 'controversy' regarding the whole DP 'saga'.

Is there anything that anyone can say right now to put this whole issue to bed and allow us to start posting about other things for a change??

Ah you see, from the 28th of FEB i have paid Alienware a large sum of money to be the only dealer to be allowed to bring Alienware into SA for resale. You'll see the full product range on my site soon. You might have seen some of the banners on my site.

seen the pics yes, but no mention of alienware .. maybe you should put on your web something saying "alienware range coming soon" ... just an idea (use it dont use it)

Person, I also don't believe it works for common computer parts, but what about the latest and greatest A/V equipment? Do you know that some brand stuff here cost ~3 times as much as in the USA? Well you can always buy Akira i Sansui for less than Yamaha and Denon in USA, but so what, I am not buying utter junk ...

Yeah, I really do not know and do not care, would not even waste time to read about it if all the links is posted. I work different, do not care what whoever says about anyone. I like personal experience, cheat me and see how long you survive after that. Some people on this forum knows how tenacious I can be. So rather keep the slate clean and you will do good business here. Some people made a quick buck here in the past but I know thereafter they do not celebrate what they gained fraudulently but rue what they lost legally

2) we ask a flat rate of 5% admin + 10% mark-up. IN MOST cases, unless the guy wants to order something like a lollipop then we have to charge more ;p

3) I've added the state & ZIP on the website for people to calculate costs.

question 1 & 4 will be answered soon.. just writing it out completely to use for site also.

DP is completely different story. They are in business for quite a few years now, and they completely disregard what their customers have to say about their useless and unreliable site! The same like with DSTV ads sound volume, no matter how much you complain about it, nobody cares. The difference is that everyone can do online retailing site, and once somebody does one properly DP will go down under, due to their ignorance and stupidity!

everyone is selling the same thing
1. BFG is reagrded very highly overseas with the lifetime warranties on their factory overclocked GPU's ... that would be nice to see here
2. Alienware like i have mentioned
3. turbo cools 1kW power supply
4. HDA X-mystique sound card

these are just some items that are not locally available ... (off the top of my head)

these items are really highly reagrded overseas and i dont see any of them here. im not in the pc game and dont intend going into it ... but other guys should see this gap and take it ...

That is why i understand even less why the whole world on this forum seems to have come up completely in support of them when THEY were the ones in thw wrong anyway. Just dont get it.

ImportDirect sources a product for the client that you can't get locally. Like a pair of Manolo Blahnik, evening shoes.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...2/103-5331852-6750268?_encoding=UTF8&v=glance
You can't get the shoes in South Africa, and it costs $1,800 a pair. We get it.
La Mer Creme de La Mer, anti-wrinkle cream for women, $1,200 for 500 ml. etc

Computer equipment is just a service like the rest. But some items like swordfish mentioned is up to 4 times cheaper.

I think they rather miss the point that the quality of their web site is actually quite important.
