How do you mean ic ?

I always run windows as Admin - so long as your firewalled, I don't see a problem.
The Administrator account is a joke anyway - a virus or trojan infects a windows box regardless of who your logged in as.

Linux is a different matter of course

matt, not good, all it takes is your virus definitions to be slightly out of date, or a totally new exploit that isn't detected yet, and it runs with administrators group priveleges- so messing up your registry & NTFS protection are all useless.

I logon with a user account that is ONLY a member of the Users group, and when I need to run an app that needs admin priveleges, I start it using RunAs (shift+right-click on the shortcut for the app).

This works fine for me, even M$Office works (the reason why most people abandon this paranoid dillusive behaviour) when you know how to tricksy-setup-M$O from a limited account.

I've never had any problems like that. I trust my Netgear router aswell..
