SAN FRANCISCO -- Intel Corp. plans to begin shipping microprocessors that have four computing engines on a single chip _ products that analysts say will help it win back market share from rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

The first chip, the Intel Core 2 Extreme quad-core processor, will be available in November. Intel says it will deliver a 70 percent performance improvement over Intel's current chips, which have one or two computing cores. The new chip is aimed at gamers, programmers and other people with heavy-duty computing needs.

And here is the board to go with it. http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=869&cid=3

That system did not even have above specs! Cost for me to know and You to find out!

I am sure we can expand on this so add comments!

Sounds like a price you normally take a Bond out for looking at those specs.

Some guys put mags or Noss on cars, other drive 300K 4x4's in town, never gets dirty, others drink or smoke... get the drift. And then there is those that would pay 50-100K for a home theathre system and above PC can do so much more! Also iterest on a bond is cheaper than HP so Yeah its worth it! We see by early next Year how we go. First got some other commitments like paying my sex account! :D

i hope that when these are brought out the prices of the core 2's will drop. I'll happily pay R2300 for a E6600, but not R3200 its just too much to justify that kind of expense right now!

Quad core's release was moved to Q4 2006 because they wanted to beat AMD to the punch. AMD will release quad core in Q1 2007.
