Dear MyADSL users,
As of yesterday South Africa has been experiencing some serious problems with International browsing. The fault reporting service on SAIX has revealed that the problem is in New York and that Telkom has instructed its technicians to replace a faulty router card on that side of the ocean.
They did manage to get a backup running between yesterday and this morning around 10h15 after which replacement work commenced. It is now (at time of writing) 12h59 in the afternoon on Monday 5 April 2004 and International browsing is still seriously handicapped.
I believe Telkom will sort this out as soon as possible. I had the opportunity of using an Internet Solutions based network this morning and it worked fine, thus I deduce that it is only Telkom customers that are affected…
If anybody can throw some more light on the problem (perhaps somebody at Telkom or close to a credible source), please provide us with more info. RPM is probably on his way back home from his trip and will probably only attend to this (via his sources) when he gets back home.
Regards,
Antowan
