Do any of you successfully play international games like Planetside, Battlefield etc?

When I get back to SA I just wonder if the pings are too horrible to effectively game.

Also, that would mean that only locally hosted servers would be ok.

Thoughts?

wow Los Angeles
local is the best we have here
international for games like that = ping of 500<

Local is the best, we have SGS IS and Gamezone that host most of the servers here in SA otherwise unless you can fork out for a 4Mb Uncapped unshaped line you gonna have to play in S.A :D

I play some Unreal Tournament on international servers using an Axxess unshaped account. Not too bad. Average in the 180 - 250 ms range. Of course that can't beat local 40 ms pings but once you get used to it you don't mind so much.

if you like bf 2, we have a massive bf 2 community

pings wont be more than about 60ms sometimes as low as 10

also remember this is SA, so expect 1-6 months for adsl

your also pay 59 rand for 1 gig of int bandwidth

i suggest you dont move out this way, if internet is a big part of your life
