Should I be able to send an MMS to a +44 number? For some reason, the message keeps failing, but when sent to a local MTN number, it's successful.

Using K750i, although not sure that's relevant.

Here's a question: are you getting charged for the failed messages?

Do you know on which network you sending the MMS too?
Possible a roaming type issue

Orange. But I also tried another friend with the same result. I think MMS may be only for SA networks.

Hi

You are correct international MMS is not available as yet as no formal agreements have been setup. For now you can only send to VC and Cell C.

Another option around this would be to create an MMS (MMS and not Email) and when sending, send to an email address instead of a cell number. This allows you to send to any email address and hence can reach international destinations.

This should helps

Thanks

Dr, does this apply to all countries? I.e. is it in most countries that you can't send international MMSes or is it just a South Africa thing that the agreements haven't been made yet?

It's in its growing phase internationally. There are companies (aka clearing houses) that have set up international gateways to broker these transactions and they are expanding the number of signed-up partners.

The biggest player is Belgacom ( http://www.intercomms.net/FEB04/content/belgacom.php ) with about 80 connected operators.

Hi

Insider is correct. Just to add to that. Some Networks overseas operate like this :

When an MMS is sent to an international number. An sms is generated and delivered to the B number with an Internet link in the message. The recepient can then log onto that link via a PC and view the MMS. Note its a web link and not a WAP link so if your handset does not support full HTML browsing you wont be able to view it.

Thanks
