I have had problems sharing the internet connection on my home network since I have changed from an internal modem to iBurst.

Both machines can see each other, both can access files on the other. My machine is connected to the internet through the USB port. The other machine is connected to mine with a crossover.
The other machine can even see my iBurst connection when online, but it cannot surf or connect to battlenet.

We both have Zonealarm with each other's ip address as a trusted zone.
I have iBurst shared with non static ip and the crossover network ip on 192.168.0.1
The other machine has all non static ips (obtain auto).

any suggestions at this point would be great :D
thnx

hey....here's a few things u can try

Try this on the PC that cant connect.
-My network places-right click-properties.
-Right click on lan adapter that's connected to the network-properties.
-Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)-properties
-Make sure its on auto IP
-Advanced
-Default Gateways-Add 192.168.0.1

If that doesnt work....
-Specify an IP 192.168.0.*
-Use the following DNS Server Addresses-192.168.0.1
-Default Gateways-Add 192.168.0.1

Shut down entire network pc's and switches
Boot up
Also try running home network setup wizard, on Pc with iBurst 1st and then on other pc's......restart.

Hope this helps. :)

erm... this is simple:

- right click properties on my network places
- right clilck properties on your wbs connection
- select the advanced tab
- Make sure "enable internet connection sharing" is enable (ticked)
- Apply and then get out.
- Make sure the client machine is set to automaticaly obtain its ip address. same with dns

After uve enabled the Internet Connection Sharing, reboot the server pc.
Then once its rebooted, and up, reboot the client machine.

The server pc should assign the client machine the correct settings.

If that doesnt work, lmk

Possible Virus AD_Hyperlinker

Electrra,
I don't want to put a damper on your efforts, but I have a similar problem.

However, I used to be able to be able to connect from both machines up until the time that I had an infection of the ADW_HYPERLINKER.A Virus.

None of the Spyware tools were able to detect it, neither were any of the Antivirus tools. I use AVAST, AVG and TrendMicro. (Of course not all at once)

It was only when I did a scan with TRENDMICRO that it highlighted the fact that this was on my second machine. I then had a look at the firewall logs and saw that there was an inordinate amount of connections established even though no one was at the particular machine at that time of day, meaning that either the system was being used as a mail-bomber, or for some other reason. Fact is that that machine was generating internet traffic up until the time that I ran the TRENDMICRO antivirus scan on it and I removed the Virus.

My internet connect computer has Lansuite 602 installed and all machines have been set up to go through the firewall within Lansuite to access the internet. This product even has its own NAT server (equivalent to the Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing) but with the difference that you can constrain who can connect to the internet via the IP Address

To make a long story short, my symptoms appear to be the same as yours, but I know that I have the virus, and even though there was a successful removal of the Virus, I still cannot connect to the internet via the computer that was infected.

I am currently busy backing up the documents on the machine, and once that is finished, I will be reformatting and re-installing XP.

I hope this helps even if it is not good news.

Regards
