Last month was the most useless month for speeds on the IS news servers. I would have to have 15 concurrent connections to get close to maxing out the line. Now I noticed with just 3 (my default) threads, it maxing out at 41kb/s no problem.

Has anyone else noticed/experienced the same thing?

Yeah, IS news servers are getting slow these days.

I'm not sure if its got something to do with more ppl getting 1024K connections or maybe the upgrade from 1mbit to 4mbit users :>

Is yours still working? I was also maxing out my connection up to 30 min ago. Now it's completely dead.

IS international ( where they get their newsfeed AFAIK ) is toast at this time. Is it storming in JHB? Anyone see a satellite fall out the sky? Let's hope it comes back soon!

It's clear here, but international is fried! Maybe there's some cloud about in Rosebank further north. And that means that any content we try to get off the news servers won't come through either if it isn't cached locally.

just got home and international seems fine. about the fast news server: i hav a feeling people are just using up their initial cap at the moment and next week we'll c a return of last months performace. I hope im wrong tho

Right now I have plenty cap and can ping the server nicely... no nntp services on it tho'
